Auron KalneAs a young boy, Auron grew up alongside his Father Cobius in the Maguuma Jungle during the last Guild Wars. It was quite dangerous for a young boy to grow up there, and so they moved to Ascalon to live there. Cobius joined the Ascalonian Military to better protect his Son. Auron followed suit shortly after, training in the Monk arts.
Cobius had a 'friendly rival' of sorts, one William Hurman. One day they both were to venture into Kryta to fight against the Krytans, when word of the Searing reached Cobius' ears. He decided to venture back to Ascalon, but before he could William revealed himself to be a traitor, and killed him alongside the rest of the unit with the help of the White Mantle, claiming them to be Chosen. The White Mantle then told William to send any he deems Chosen their way, and so William headed back to Ascalon.
Meanwhile, the Searing happened and Auron was all alone; his Father never came home. Over time he had ventured over the Northern Shiverpeaks, through Kryta, and eventually to the Maguuma where he found a man named Kan Hassen surrounded by Wind Riders. Auron drove the Wind Riders away and had brought Kan to a nearby cave where Auron was living for that time. In their conversations, he had learned that Kan was an Orrian who had escaped alongside his Brother and Sister, Bartoloma and Cynthia, before the Cataclysm destroyed the Kingdom of Orr. Kan had also told Auron about Camelot, and how he was a Knight of Camelot. He also told him about his thoughts of switching to Clergy and becoming a Man of the Church. Auron had helped Kan realize his skills would be more useful as a Clergy member, and thus Kan become a Brother of Camelot, inviting Auron as well.
For a while everything was fine; Auron had felt accustomed to Camelot's ways and all. However, the Seas called to Kan and company, as they wished to venture out for new adventures. Sadly, this meant leaving Camelot. All who were present left to Lion's Arch, a location Kan chose himself for he desired to bear the blazon once more. With a sad filled heart, he set sail alongside Bartoloma, Cynthia, and Auron waving goodbye to his friends.
It was not but a month out before disaster struck; sea beasts attacked the vessel they were on. A crewmate woke Auron up to bear witness to the sight of Bartoloma and Cynthia torn into bloody pieces and Kan trying to fend off the beasts. The beasts tore the ship apart before very little remained, and what did remain was sinking. Kan had given Auron a window of escape aboard some planks whilst he kept the beasts attention. Kan had shoved Auron onto the planks and shoved him off despite Auron's protests. He then saw all three beasts rise up and engulf the whole ship, taking Kan with them. Kan Hassen was dead.
Auron then returned to Lion's Arch by drifting. He then returned to Ascalon to rejoin the ranks of their military. Soon, he aquired the means to contact King Arthur of Camelot, showing interest in re-joining. His journey through the ranks started anew, and after failing one Holy Test, he succeeded the next, becoming Brother Auron Kalne of Camelot.
