| "Few arrived in Camelot with the will to be a Knight, such as Sir Perceval did centuries ago... But you don't become a Knight, you just are. The whole process of a Knight's training was to reveal what was already inside of them, so that they could train others to reveal it as well."
- The Wise Words of Merlin; Chapter 6, page 420
As a Lieutenant, you belong to the junior-most class of Camelot's Chivalry. But still, you do have some responsibilities regarding some other men-at-arms who are trying to rise from Page to Sir / Damsel. Indeed, you will be the Knight tutor of some of them. Here is what is expected of you:
- Your part of the job, as a Knight tutor, is to focus on the Martial learning of our recruits. We do not ask you to make running brutes out of them but ensure they have tactical minds, keen eyes and ears, and quick spells...
- As a teacher, you represent Camelot. Never forget this. Every word, action, and breath you take is supposed to be exemplary. You hold the banner of Chivalry and Feudalism... of Camelot... Do not be too harsh or too lenient.
- Your tutees have to show you respect, but at the same time they depend on you to learn codes and fighting. You have to be after them when they don't RP (use parenthesis), when they don't wear the guild's blazon correctly, when they act improperly, when they don't salute properly, etc... Your are their trainer but also a mentor of Chivalric standards.
- Your role is not to lead on the field yet, though you can. If a party of members go for a mission and there is a Noble or the Master, though, their leadership prevails.
- You have new ways to salute as a Knight, for you are now military. Please go back to the article intitled "How to act as a vassal / suzerain" to find it out...
- A Lieutenant has not the prestige and the money to dress him/herself as richly as a knight of the Round Table. In order to make things realistic, avoid rich colors: white, gold, black; or colors that inspire evil or richness: red, purple, deep blue, and of course... black. Colors such as silver, brown, grey, greenish yellowish tin might make the aspect of your armor, still basic, very realistic in terms of Role Play. Be careful though: Black is best if used on smaller pieces of armor, because traditionally, Black Knights represent evil. The same rule works for Red, keep it partial, for it is the color of madness. As a final word: Keep away from White, that is the privilege of Knight Generals.
The talent, devotion, and passion you will put in your task will have a strong influence on the shape of our future members. I know that a lot is expected of you, but we have to split responsibilities now, and that is your part of the job. Good luck... | |
