| "Banners high, colors displayed, armors glimmering in the sun, and a smile of self-confidence wide open on their faces, the most talented of Knights soon became Commanders. They would lead the others to the battle, with a stong sense of strategy, assuring everyone's survival, and everyone's success..."
- The Wise words of Merlin; Chapter 7, page 621
Knight commanders are captains, leaders of fighting men and women in the field. Their role is to lead, direct and inspire forces, not to take unnecessary risks. It's an art that involves experience and the mind of a tactician, not just big arms. Here is what is expected of you:
- starting with Commander as a rank and moving up the ranks, by Camelot's law, they should be priority number one as the chosen leader in the party of any given Mission, farming stroll, or quest. They should lead every mission, even before Clerics and Nobles. That is what they are good at. So let it be heard... Even though the Noble can have some word in the choice of the leader of any party, you are, through your chosen path, more experienced in leading men than Nobles.
- you have to choose a Big City: Lion's Arch, Ascalon, Kamadan, Droknar, etc... You are a representative of Camelot in this big city. You are still somehow bound with the Military Schools of that City and proud of the City's culture in your manners. Have you been trained by Canthan Samouraïs, Kamadan Sunspears, Droknar dwarves, Ascalonians, Krytans? Please get to know the town, the country it is situated in, and both their stories (you can find the background of any in Guild Wars Wiki, just Google it). Maybe you have lived there in the past, maybe you are somehow attached to the City. In any case, work on your role play according to this background.
- Still be wary of your colors. Avoid rich colors: white, gold, black; or colors that inspire evil or richness: red, purple, deep blue, and of course... black. But still, some evolution has to be seen from the colors you were displaying as a Lieutenant, something lighter or with more gleam maybe, or simply more different colors. The mix of various silver with other colors tend to make an armor look shinier. It has to look less dirty. In order to make things realistic, avoid rich colors: white, gold, black; or colors that inspire evil or richness: red, purple, deep blue, and of course... black. Colors such as silver, brown, grey, greenish yellowish tin might make the aspect of your armor, still basic, very realistic in terms of Role Play. Be careful though: Black is best if used on smaller pieces of armor, because traditionally, Black Knights represent evil. The same rule works for Red, keep it partial, for it is the color of madness. As a final word: Keep away from White, that is the privilege of Knight Generals. | |
